Volume booster extension for Chrome: make any tab louder with Volume Master Pro
Volume Master Pro is a free volume booster extension for Chrome that makes a tab louder, up to 900% of the normal level. You can set a different volume for each tab, shape the sound with a 3-band equalizer, watch a live VU meter, and change volume with keyboard shortcuts. It works in Chrome, Edge, Brave and other Chromium browsers, with no ads and no tracking.

What is a volume booster extension?
A volume booster (also called a sound booster) is a browser extension that makes the sound in a tab louder than the browser normally allows. It helps when a video, podcast or online call is too quiet, even with your computer's volume at maximum.
Volume Master Pro is also an audio mixer. If several tabs are playing sound at once, you can turn one up and another down, without touching the others.
How do you make a Chrome tab louder than 100%?
- Install Volume Master Pro: click Add to Chrome on the Nonu Ventures apps page, then Add to Chrome again in the Chrome Web Store, and confirm the permissions.
- Open the tab that is playing sound.
- Click the extension icon in your toolbar.
- Raise the volume above 100%, up to 900%. You can also use Alt+Up and Alt+Down, or keys 1–9.
Start with a small boost and go up step by step.
Can you boost one tab and not the others?
Yes. Volume Master Pro has independent per-tab volume control. For example, you can make a quiet training video louder while keeping music in another tab low.
How do you boost YouTube volume in Chrome?
Volume Master Pro works on YouTube tabs like any other tab, so you can use it as a YouTube volume booster:
- Open the YouTube video in Chrome.
- Click the Volume Master Pro icon in your toolbar.
- Raise the volume above 100%, or use Alt+Up.
The boost applies to that tab only, so other tabs keep their own volume.
Is a volume booster extension safe?
Before you install any volume booster, check which permissions it asks for and why. Chrome shows Volume Master Pro's permission as "Read and change data on websites". It needs this for one reason: to connect to each site's AudioContext, which is how it boosts the volume and mixes tabs.
According to the extension's own privacy statement, no browsing data is tracked, collected or stored. Audio is processed in your browser, and there are no ads.
Can a volume booster damage speakers or headphones?
It can, if you play sound very loud for a long time. Small laptop speakers and headphones are the most at risk, and so are your ears. Boosting far above 100% can also make loud parts distort.
To stay safe, turn the volume up a little at a time, stop if the sound crackles, and use the VU meter to see how hard you are pushing it.
What do the equalizer and VU meter do?
- The 3-band equalizer changes the balance of low, middle and high sounds. It comes with built-in audio modes, so you do not have to set it by hand.
- The real-time VU meter shows how loud the tab's sound is as it plays.
Does Volume Master Pro work in Edge and Brave?
Yes. It is built for Chromium browsers that support Manifest V3: Google Chrome, Microsoft Edge, Brave and others. You install it from the Chrome Web Store.
How do you report a bug or ask for a feature?
Use the support link on the extension's Chrome Web Store listing. Include the extension name, your browser version and a short description of the problem.
